Empowering People, Ensuring Safety

Safety First Workforce Campaign | 2024

The people of the clean energy workforce are the heartbeat of our industry, and the importance of their safety cannot be understated. As the clean energy sector grows, human factors play a key role in ensuring safety. This year’s campaign connects human factors with real-world accounts of hazards experienced on the job to better understand why we make the decisions we do.

Let's create a culture of safety across the industry.

As our clean energy sector expands, human factors—how we think, act, and make decisions—play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Examples of human factors include normalization of warning signs, focusing on the wrong risks, confirmation bias, and groupthink.

While no one intends to make unsafe decisions that can lead to incidents, these human factors can impact our ability to make informed decisions and recognize potential hazards.

The unique environments and complex tasks in clean energy require our continued commitment to safety. ACP and its members are leading efforts to minimize hazard exposure through the development of training standards, micro credentials, advanced safety training and equipment, and safety-informed engineering for projects.

This year, we’ll feature real-world stories to highlight how these human factors contribute to workplace risks and show you how to make informed, safer decisions every day.
