Building confidence through certification.

ACP certifications provide employers with an independent, industry-recognized way to validate technician competency while improving safety, workforce quality, and operational performance.

Why Certification Matters

Today’s clean energy employers need technicians who can perform safely and consistently from day one.  ACP Workforce Certification provides independent verification that technicians have demonstrated the competencies required for critical field work.

Trusted by the Industry

GE Vernova
“Certifications like ACP’s help close the gap between technical training centers and real-world field capabilities. As the wind industry scales, standardization is key to limiting risk for the growing number of field technicians that keep our wind turbines online and energizing communities in the U.S. and worldwide.”
— Shanon Lutomski, Wind Services Executive, GE Vernova
Leeward Renewable Energy
“Industry jobs are expected to double by 2030, making talent development an important priority. LRE is proud to be involved with ACP’s certification program because a well-trained workforce benefits the entire ecosystem. By establishing consistent standards for competency and safety, we’re helping create opportunities for American workers while strengthening performance across employers, job sites, and the communities we serve.”
— Wilem van der Ven, Chief Operating Officer, Leeward Renewable Energy
MasTec Clean Energy & Infrastructure

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for certification?

Technicians coming with technical experience or from a similar field can take the assessment soon after the completion of a training program. If someone is new to the industry, they would likely need 3 – 6 months of in-field experience before taking the assessment.

Assessors must have experience supervising technicians for 5+ years OR a competency/training subject matter expert.

How long is certification valid?

The certification lasts for one year and can be automatically renewed as long as the individual attests to the fact that they are still actively working with relevant technologies (i.e. wind, solar, and battery storage) in the field.

How much does it cost?

Please see the pricing brochure for more details.

How long does the assessment take?

The assessment is approximately 2-3 hours per scenario and can take place over multiple days.  This will vary by company, technician proficiency, and several other factors such as weather, planning, scheduling, etc.

How is certification different from training?

Training helps individuals develop the knowledge and skills needed for the job. ACP Workforce Certification is training-agnostic and independently verifies that a technician has demonstrated the competencies required to perform that job safely and effectively, regardless of how or where those skills were acquired.

Is the ACP Certification OEM or model specific?

No, the ACP Competency Validation is to ensure technicians can apply job preparation, safety practices, hazard recognition, knowledge, and industry standard competency and skill sets that would be applied across different sites. Training specific to the site or wind turbine would be done during the onboarding or training phase as determined by the company.
