Mistakes with High Stakes: Mitigating Fall Risks

Wednesday, October 9, 2024 | 11 AM - 11:45 AM ET

Fall hazards are present at many job sites and refer to anything that could cause someone to lose their balance and result in a fall. Clean energy construction workers and maintenance technicians are often exposed to fall hazards at clean energy sites due to their frequent work on elevated surfaces.

Tim Palmer, Sr. Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety at MasTec Renewables, will join ACP’s PowerCast presentation to review the fall hazards and environmental and situational factors that can lead to fall injuries on clean energy sites. Tim will recount a fall from heights incident that happened on a wind turbine and the root cause of how the incident occurred. He’ll also review solutions and equipment for preventing fall hazards.

During this PowerCast, attendees will learn:

  • The kinds of fall hazards that are present on clean energy sites
  • Human factors that contribute to an individual experience falling from heights
  • Approaches and procedures (individually and culturally) that minimize risk to fall hazards
