The High Cost of Complacency: An Arc Flash Survivor’s Perspective

Wednesday, October 16, 2024 | 11 AM - 11:45 AM ET

Electrical hazards occur when a person is exposed to a potentially lethal amount of electrical energy in the form of burns, electrocution, shock, arc flash, fire, or explosions.  Electricians, maintenance personnel, engineers and other workers can be exposed to electrical hazards from tools, machines, or appliances at clean energy sites, which can result in life-threatening injuries.

Jason Brozen, an arc flash survivor, will share a case study presentation on the accident that nearly killed him. He will discuss the root causes of complacency that can cause this kind of incident and how to minimize the risk of an arc flash.

During this PowerCast, attendees will learn:

  • The kinds of electrical and arc flash hazards that can occur on clean energy sites
  • Human factors that contribute to an arc flash encounter
  • Approaches and procedures (individually and culturally) that minimize risk to arc flash
