The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) issued the following statement on the U.S. House of Representatives Energy & Commerce Committee CLEAN Future Act Proposal.

Washington D.C. – January 8, 2020- “We commend the House Energy and Commerce Committee for proposing a comprehensive climate legislation bill,” said Tom Kiernan, CEO of AWEA. “We look forward to reviewing details of the bill when it’s available. AWEA has long believed that a meaningful price on carbon is important and this bill will help start a thoughtful conversation on pursuing a nation-wide carbon policy solution that is not only good for the environment but equally important for American economic prosperity and global leadership in climate action.

We commend the bill for seeking ambitious targets and recognizing the important role transmission investment will play in delivering market-based, low-cost solutions.  As an emission-free energy source, US onshore and offshore wind power stand ready to play a leading role in reducing carbon pollution while creating hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs across the country.”
