Press Release

Oct 24 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 24, 2023 – The American Clean Power Association (ACP) released the following statement from Josh Kaplowitz, Vice President for Offshore Wind, after New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced the solicitation awards for three offshore wind and 22 land-based renewable energy projects totaling 6.4 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy:

“The projects announced today represent $20 billion in new investments across the state and bring much-needed benefits to the environment, the economy and residents of New York. The awards include developer commitments to support disadvantaged communities that will pave the way for a cleaner future by significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning away from a dependence on fossil fuels. Despite recent moves to limit renewables in the state, today’s announcement shows that New York can enhance its renewable energy capacity and continue leading in the fight against climate change.

“These projects will create more than 8,000 jobs and spur the development of new supply chains, attracting businesses and fostering innovation that will stimulate economic growth, and enhance the overall competitiveness of the state.

“New York’s commitment to advancing these clean energy projects strengthens its energy security and ensures a stable and affordable energy supply for its residents and businesses.”
