Melanie LaCount

Chief of Staff, Communications

Melanie is an accomplished policy and communications leader whose career has centered on advancing clean energy. During more than two decades at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, she helped shape national energy and environmental policy and led teams to advance environmental progress through collaboration, clear communication, and organizational excellence.

She has extensive experience guiding communication strategies, and building teams that produce innovative and impactful results, which will be her focus at ACP. She holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from Duke University. Melanie is also certified as a Maryland Master Naturalist and works closely with the American Chestnut Land Trust. She and her husband Rob live in Bethesda and have three teen-aged boys.
