
LaKesha Gathers Flowers
Under the direction of the Chief Advocacy Officer (CAO), LaKesha provides high-level administrative support to the CAO, coordinating efforts within the Advocacy team, and collaborating with other departments such as Policy, Communications, Membership and Operations. LaKesha Gathers-Flowers’ journey as an assistant began at the age of 17 when she served as a secretary in her father’s small business, Gathers Transportation Services. A self-described “Jack of all trades, master of many” she prides herself on being an administrative professional to the core who has experience in every facet of office operations which includes C-Suite support, human resources, and facilities management.
Throughout her career as an executive assistant, LaKesha has played a pivotal role beyond traditional administrative functions—managing complex logistics, facilitating key initiatives, and collaborating with board members and stakeholders to drive organizational success on behalf of executive leadership.
Having supported three Presidents & CEOs and one Executive Director, her 18 years of experience in the C-suite spans the private sector, mission-driven nonprofits, and member-based associations. This diverse background has given her a deep understanding of various organizational cultures, workflows, and executive leadership styles.
LaKesha’s career portfolio includes serving as Executive Assistant to the Presidents and CEOs of the National Grocers Association, the American International Health Alliance, and the International Bottled Water Association.
Currently, she is a student at the College of Southern Maryland, pursuing certifications in Communications and Education. An aspiring creative, LaKesha has a passion for photography and graphic design. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, scenic walks, spending time with her family, and adding stamps to her state and national parks passport book.
