Jim Murphy
As Invenergy’s president and co-founder, Jim Murphy is responsible for the general management of the company, leading and overseeing the legal, finance, government affairs, communications, and administrative functions. Murphy has negotiated more than $50 billion in private equity and debt investments, power plant acquisitions and sales, and project financing over his 40 years in the energy industry, and he has managed organizations across the continuum from start-up, growth and liquidity events. Through his roles on the investment committee and board, he guides Energize Capital, which manages venture and growth funds anchored by Invenergy, as well as Reactivate, Invenergy’s affiliate that develops and invests in solar energy projects primarily serving low-to-moderate income communities and areas disproportionately affected by the clean energy transition. Murphy serves on the board of the American Clean Power Association (ACP) and formerly served on the board of directors of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE). Prior to the formation of Invenergy, Murphy was chief financial officer at SkyGen Energy LLC, vice president at The Deerpath Group, Inc. and manager at Arthur Andersen. Murphy has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, magna cum laude, and a CPA certification from the University of Illinois.
