Ian McClenny

Deputy Director, Energy Storage

Ian McClenny is the Director of Energy Storage at the American Clean Power Association, where he covers policy, regulatory, and advocacy efforts to accelerate the deployment of grid-scale battery storage across the United States. He specializes in energy storage supply chains, storage participation in wholesale markets, and battery safety.

With several years of experience spanning U.S. and international energy markets, Ian has worked across the advanced battery value chain in energy storage technologies, advanced manufacturing, and cybersecurity, helping shape the next generation of the energy storage landscape and infrastructure. Prior to joining ACP, he was the Associate Director of Energy Storage Clean Energy Associates where he managed the company’s energy storage project portfolio. He also worked as the Senior Energy Specialist at RTI International as the point person for developing energy storage projects in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

Ian holds a Master’s of Science degree from Johns Hopkins in Energy Policy and Climate and a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Virginia in Chemical Engineering. In his free time, Ian enjoys basketball, golf, and is an avid traveler.
