
Alicia Barton
Alicia Barton is the Chief Executive Officer of Vineyard Offshore, a leading offshore wind developer with a portfolio of more than 6 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind projects in North America. Projects include Vineyard Wind, the first commercial-scale offshore wind project in the United States, and Excelsior Wind in the New York Bight. Vineyard Offshore has further lease areas in New England and in Northern California.
With over 15 years’ experience in both public and private sectors, Alicia is a proven leader in clean energy development. Prior to joining Vineyard Offshore in 2024, Ms. Barton was the CEO of FirstLight, a leading clean power producer, developer, and energy storage company serving North America. Her past public service included serving as the President and as CEO of the New York Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA; from 2017-2020) and previously as CEO the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC; from 2012-2015), where she helped to lead both New York’s and Massachusetts’ efforts to advance nation-leading climate and clean energy strategies. Ms. Barton’s prior private sector experience includes serving as Co-Chair of the Energy and Cleantech Practice at Foley Hoag LLP, and as Chief of Operations of the Global Utility business unit at SunEdison.
Through each of her prior roles, Alicia has been an instrumental leader in laying the groundwork for the offshore wind industry in the US, and she is passionate about building a clean energy future for her young son. Alicia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources from Ohio State University and a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Boston College Law School. She lives in Concord, Massachusetts with her husband and young son.
