There’s broad agreement, across industries and political aisles, that it simply takes too long to build critical infrastructure in the United States. Clean energy generation and transmission projects often sit in limbo.

The Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024, introduced on July 22 by Senators Joe Manchin (I-WV) and John Barrasso (R-WY), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources (ENR) Committee sets out to change that and, in doing so, help the U.S. meet the growing demand for electricity and strengthen American energy security. Recently, the bill was passed out of the Senate ENR Committee and awaits consideration by the full Senate. ACP is supportive of the legislation as it delivers a solution for the slow, inefficient permitting process preventing the U.S. from deploying more clean energy and building new power-transmission lines.

ACP Members will have the exclusive opportunity to join ACP’s Chief Advocacy Officer JC Sandberg and key Committee staff from the offices of Senator Manchin and Senator Barrasso for an in-depth discussion about the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024, what this bill seeks to achieve, and what you can do to help ensure the bill receives a vote in the full Senate.
