The economic benefits of wind energy are understudied, specifically concerning the benefits to local employment and income, as well as the impact on property values.

Berkeley Lab, in collaboration with the Colorado School of Mines, has conducted new research on the benefits and impacts of those living within 20 miles of wind energy projects. Their findings indicate clear, long-term benefits after projects become operational, and interestingly, some workers benefit more compared to others. Speakers will also discuss new research on nearby property values in school districts with abundant wind energy. The data from this new research paints a very different picture when discussing local property value impacts.

During this PowerCast, attendees can expect to learn:

  • How new data about local economies can impact wind development.
  • New facts about the industry that can be applied in development initiatives.

This PowerCast is open to the public.
