Since before Edison’s light bulb, which Lewis Latimer made possible by patenting a carbon filament making process, American energy would not exist in its current form without Black leaders shaping the industry. And yet clean energy companies have failed to bring Black representation above the single-digit percentile within its workforce. During this PowerCasts program, top executives will discuss their personal experiences in the industry, the opportunity energy companies have to recruit awesome, influential, Black talent, and how to create an environment to retain diverse talent.

Discussion topics:

  • A robust introduction for each panelist
  • Personal stories from each panelist: how they entered the industry and experience working in it
  • Their views on the industry barriers to diversity
  • Attacks on company DEI efforts and how those attacks may hinder diversification efforts
  • How they think we can add diversity to the industry
  • The role of ACP as the voice of the industry and how we can step up in this space
