ACP Statement on Senate Passage of Auxin CRA

Press Release

May 3 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 3, 2023 – Following tonight’s Senate vote to use the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to impose retroactive solar tariffs, American Clean Power Association (ACP) CEO Jason Grumet issued the following statement:

“The American Clean Power Association applauds President Biden’s decision to veto this misguided legislation. The American solar industry is committed to taking aggressive action to build a resilient domestic solar supply chain. In recent months, the American solar industry has announced billions of dollars in investments in domestic solar manufacturing and energy production facilities. Continued success requires collaboration between American government, business, and labor to overcome real competitive barriers and reclaim America’s solar technology dominance.

“The attempt to impose punitive retroactive tariffs on U.S. companies would harm American workers and once again cede ground to China and other nations. Congress should work to protect existing clean energy jobs, not undermine a growing American industry that is harnessing abundant domestic resources.”
