Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith is Chief Executive Officer of Cypress Creek Energy. He brings broad experience across conventional power, renewable energy, and energy storage, with leadership spanning development, finance, construction, and long-term operations. He has led development and execution of projects in 26 U.S. states and more than a dozen countries, with power sales contracts exceeding $75 billion.

Smith began his career in traditional generation, working on natural gas cogeneration projects during a period when efficiency and cost discipline were becoming essential. He later helped build large-scale wind and solar platforms, including leading Invenergy’s wind business into a multi-billion-dollar portfolio across more than 25 states and international markets. As CEO of Lightsource bp Americas, he scaled the U.S. business into a leading developer, delivering more than $3.5 billion in projects. At Arevon Energy, he led development and construction of more than $5.6 billion in solar and storage projects while nearly doubling operating revenues.

He brings a system-level perspective shaped by experience across technologies, along with a strong focus on people, culture, and community engagement. Smith works closely with utilities, investors, policymakers, and local communities, with a belief that projects succeed when communities are treated as partners.
