After a decade of hard work and preparation, the U.S. offshore wind industry is experiencing tremendous growth and development with a record amount of construction underway. According to ACP’s recent 2024 Offshore Wind Market Report, more than 58 gigawatts (GW) in project capacity is under development across 37 leases. Upcoming lease auctions will open an additional 1.9 million acres of federal waters for offshore wind projects. Planned state solicitations aim to contract between 8 and 12 GW of new capacity by 2025.
