ACP Statement on Regulatory Approval for Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Project
Sep 25 2023
WASHINGTON DC, September 25, 2023 – The American Clean Power Association (ACP) released the following statement today from Josh Kaplowitz, Vice President for Offshore Wind, after the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced the availability of the final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project operated by Dominion Energy. This is the final step before BOEM issues a Record of Decision (ROD) on project approval.
“Today’s regulatory milestone shows the continued progress the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project is making toward the start of construction. This project will stimulate the regional economy and create many new job opportunities – including in manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and operations. Once completed, CVOW will power approximately 660,000 homes per year with clean, reliable, and homegrown wind energy.
“CVOW’s FEIS is the result of rigorous review and extensive public input from key stakeholders. ACP looks forward to BOEM’s final approval of the project and the jobs, manufacturing capacity, and energy security that America’s offshore wind industry will bring to Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region.”
