Chicago, IL, – AWEA will host WINDPOWER Conference & Exhibition 2013, beginning on Sunday, May 5, and running through Wednesday, May 8, at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.
Nearly 10,000 wind industry professionals and 600 exhibitors from around the world are registered to attend WINDPOWER 2013 to network, share new technology, and discuss solutions in an ever-changing wind energy industry.

Chicago, IL, – AWEA will host WINDPOWER Conference & Exhibition 2013, beginning on Sunday, May 5, and running through Wednesday, May 8, at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.
Nearly 10,000 wind industry professionals and 600 exhibitors from around the world are registered to attend WINDPOWER 2013 to network, share new technology, and discuss solutions in an ever-changing wind energy industry.

The Opening Session on Monday, May 6 – beginning at 8:30am – will feature Incoming AWEA CEO Tom Kiernan, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, and AWEA Board Chairman Gabriel Alonso of EDP Renewables. A press conference with CEO Kiernan, Mayor Emanuel, Gov. Branstad, and Mr. Alonso will immediately follow the session.

3. WHAT:KIDWIND Challenge

WHO: Chicago schoolchildrenWHERE:Museum of Science and Industry

NOTE: 1) Instant Blade Challenge – Students teams (teams no larger than 3 students) that are part of this challenge will be given a box of materials. They will then be challenged to build the best set of blades they can and enter them into the instant blade design competition.

2) Prebuilt Wind Turbine Challenge – Teams that enter this challenge will need to bring a turbine that they have constructed before the event. We will do performance testing at the challenge and teams will also be judged on how they built their turbine.
 

4. WHAT:Wind Project Component Manufacturing Tour

NOTE: Registration is required to participate in the tour. S&C is one of the oldest and largest manufacturers in Chicago and is opening its doors to show how it has become a leader in the implementation of wind power.
