Gov. Branstad releases letter advocating for wind energy; to attend POLITICO’s energy forum

DES MOINES, November 16, 2011 – This morning, Gov. Terry Branstad will participate in POLITICO’s “Energy and the Presidency” at 8 a.m. at the Embassy Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
 

 
DES MOINES, November 16, 2011 – This morning, Gov. Terry Branstad will participate in POLITICO’s “Energy and the Presidency” at 8 a.m. at the Embassy Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
Also this morning, Gov. Branstad is releasinga letterhe co-authored with Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee to Senate Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid, Senate Republican Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell, House Speaker Rep. John Boehner and House Democratic Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi. The letter asks Congress to promptly pass a multi-year extension of the wind energy production tax credit.
In the letter, the governors state, “The United States has some of the best wind resources in the world, but our lack of long-term national policies hinders our ability to develop them fully.”
They continue, “Without policy certainty, investors, developers, and manufacturers will move projects and jobs elsewhere.”
