Learn how wind energy can be a player in Washington at WINDPOWER 2016

John Purcell is the Vice President of the Energy Division at Leeco Steel.

2016 is already proving to be one of the most fascinating years in politics.  And whether we like it or not, the wind industry will be impacted a new Presidential Administration and a shift in the makeup of the House and Senate in November.

Join us for an interactive discussion about these key issues during WINDPOWER 2016 at the The Politics of Wind: Why Our Industry Must Be a Player in Washington.

Who better to talk through these different scenarios than two former Members of Congress – Senator Mary Landrieu and Congressman Bob Inglis.  I am thrilled that these two distinguished officials will share their thoughts on how Washington views wind energy and how wind might grow its influence in Washington over the next few years.

Rounding out the panel will be Jimmy Glotfelty, the Executive Vice President for Clean Line Energy.  Jimmy’s experience working on energy issues from a local, state and federal perspective will give us a better sense of how to really sell our industry to policy makers – what messages will get a Member of Congress to listen to us, and who does the best job of delivering those messages?

As the moderator of this panel, I’m also hoping to get some insights from our audience about how you think this election will impact our industry and how to best position ourselves to engage in future policy campaigns.

I’m conscious that this is the first time our federal policy panel at WINDPOWER has not been predominantly focused on the Production Tax Credit.  This is an exciting space for the U.S. wind industry to be in – and one that really opens up the conversation to new areas where we can find new ground with policy makers in Washington.

So make sure to attend the The Politics of Wind: Why Our Industry Must Be a Player in Washington at WINDPOWER 2016.  Whether you’re the head of government relations or a wind farm technician, what happens in Washington affects everyone in our industry. This session will be open to all attendees and will be located on the show floor in the Power Station. Our all-star panelists are:

  • Former Senator Mary Landrieu (D-Louisiana) and former Chairwoman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee
  • Former Congressman Bob Inglis (R-South Carolina), currently the Executive Director of republicEn
  • Jimmy Glotfelty, Executive Vice President, Clean Line Energy

See you there!
