AWEA's Denise Bode to be honored by energy-environment group

AWEA CEO Denise Bode will be named Woman of the Year 2009 tonight by the Women's Council on Energy and the Environment (WCEE). The award will be presented at a sold-out gala at Washington's Mayflower Hotel. WCEE said it Is recognizing Ms. Bode “for her leadership and accomplishments in advocating for clean and affordable energy.”

“I am honored to join the company of accomplished women who have received this award,” said Ms. Bode. “And at this time in our nation’s energy history, I am grateful to have the opportunity to lead the wind energy industry – a sector that the President has identified as a key driver for the new U.S. economy.”

Ms. Bode's experience includes service on the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, as the CEO of the American Clean Skies Foundation, AS President of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) and on the staff of then–U.S. Sen. David Boren (D-Okla.) as his legal counsel. She broadcasts a daily radio program and an online television program through CleanSkies TV.
