AWEA letter to House and Senate conference leaders

AWEA CEO Denise Bode has sent a letter to House and Senate leaders, urging that certain provisions be included in the final version of the legislation. Here is the key point:

“If the correct provisions are included in the final bill, wind power and other renewable energy sources will continue to grow and create jobs and investment through the economic downturn, with added benefits for the environment and our national security.

“We believe the temporary Department of Energy (DOE) grant program as drafted in the House legislation (Section 1721 of H.R. 1) is an absolutely essential component to help successfully deploy new wind energy projects in 2009 and 2010.”
