Investing in a clean energy future creates American jobs.

America has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in the energy infrastructure and workforce we need to accelerate our clean energy future.

With over 415,000 Americans already working in wind, solar and energy storage across America, action on energy infrastructure and policy certainty for clean energy deployment will continue Powering American Jobs and help meet our climate targets. We cannot afford to miss the moment.

The clean energy industry provides good-paying jobs in all 50 states

The wind, solar, and energy storage workforce is active across all 50 states and are some of the fastest growing occupations in the country – wind technicians are the country’s #1 fastest growing role, and solar installers are #3. Clean energy workers make 30 percent more than the national median wage, ensuring that they have access to good-paying jobs that support them and their families.

Policies that drive investment in clean energy infrastructure will create more jobs and opportunities for Americans

The clean energy sector workforce is expected to significantly grow to over 1 million by 2030. Stable and predictable policies will allow the rapid development of job-creating clean energy projects across the country. American workers would benefit greatly from the increased investment and deployment of solar, wind, and energy storage. These policies would create an additional 500,000 – 600,000 jobs across 35 different occupations – especially in construction, manufacturing, and operations and maintenance roles. Reaching our nation’s offshore wind goal of 30 gigawatts of U.S. offshore wind by 2030 will create 83,000 new American jobs. Many of the jobs created by these policies will be concentrated in heavily unionized sectors, furthering cementing clean energy as a leader in this country for a unionized workforce.

Upgrading our energy infrastructure will reclaim America’s leadership role on the world stage

To remain competitive on the world stage, America needs an infrastructure and workforce that’s ready to handle the needs of the 21st-century. The work underway in Congress on infrastructure and long-term policies that would drive clean energy deployment put us on a path to build a clean infrastructure system that will be the envy of the world.
